Imaging Associates
Richmond, VIC

HSPC Health Architects is leading the design and delivery of Imaging Associates’ new clinic on Lennox Street in Richmond. This project involves the adaptive reuse of an existing commercial building, transforming it into a contemporary, fully equipped medical imaging facility that supports high-quality, patient-centred diagnostic care.
The development introduces a comprehensive suite of imaging services, including one CT, one MRI with provision for a future second magnet, one X-ray, one mammography room, and four ultrasound rooms. These clinical spaces are supported by dedicated staff work areas, patient reception and waiting zones, reporting rooms, change facilities, and essential service spaces that enable smooth and safe day-to-day operation.

A key aspect of the project is working within the constraints of the existing structure while integrating highly specialised medical equipment, rigorous shielding requirements, and complex building services. The design response focuses on optimising patient flow, enhancing privacy, improving staff efficiency, and ensuring seamless service delivery, from arrival through to imaging and reporting. Consideration has also been given to acoustic separation, vibration control for sensitive imaging equipment, and future capacity planning.
HSPC’s scope encompasses leadership across clinical planning, detailed architectural design, technical documentation, and the coordination of equipment suppliers, engineers, and specialist consultants. This holistic approach ensures that every component—from room geometry and sightlines to service routes and compliance requirements—is resolved to support both clinical performance and long-term operational sustainability.
With more than three decades of experience in health design, HSPC understands the clinical drivers, spatial relationships and technical complexities essential to delivering specialised healthcare environments. Our approach ensures the new Richmond clinic will operate effectively as a standalone facility while aligning with Imaging Associates’ broader service model and future growth.
