Cabrini Health Theatre Expansion

The latest expansion of the operating theatre suite at Cabrini Health delivers four new operating theatres, three endoscopy procedure rooms with integrated scope reprocessing, a new cath lab suite, and a shell space for future expansion. Supporting the redevelopment are new Stage 1, 2 and 3 recovery environments, significantly increasing day surgery capacity and enabling a contemporary model of care.
Delivered within a fully operational live hospital environment, the project was carefully staged to ensure the existing theatre suite remained uninterrupted throughout construction, with no loss of operational capacity at any point during the build.
The project forms the second stage of a long-term theatres masterplan developed by HSPC for Cabrini, with the planning of both phases strategically aligned to enable seamless staged delivery and future growth.
Placing patient recovery at the centre of the design response, the recovery environments are filled with natural light to support patient wellbeing and comfort.
Extensive engagement with clinical users, supported by augmented reality visualisation tools, ensured the design was thoroughly tested and refined to optimise operational efficiency and clinical workflows.
